Re: .VMDK file won't restore, no permission

It just seems crazy that I can see the file and it seems to be all there (large file the size of the HD that I had set it to) but that I just can't copy it or move it because of the permissions thing which I just cannot figure out how to fix. Even if VMware charged to fix it (or anyone) I'd do it because there's so much valuable stuff in there.

I notice that the upper right corner of your screen has the VMware Fusion icon on the menu bar.  It's quite possible that some parts of VMware Fusion were still running when you deleted it.

The easiest thing to do would be to restart your Mac to clear out whichever parts of Fusion were running before.

Once you restart your Mac, can you then open VMware Fusion?

ESXi CPU use

I notice the Fusion Pro product page shows CPU/memory/etc. stats at the bottom of an ESXi server:

vmw-scrnsht-fusionpro-vm-connection.jpg

And the help, too, suggests this feature:

"You can view the power state, CPU use, and disk space use of a server or the configuration information of a remote virtual machine by selecting it in the Fusion interface."

"Select a server to view the CPU use, memory use, and available storage.

The CPU use, memory use, and available storage appears at the bottom of the interface."

However, I never see that bottom pane. I do see Snapshot/Configuration File/Hardware Compatibility on individual machines, but nothing on the server, whether I connect to a vCenter or directly to ESXi, in both cases 5.5.

Hi,

thanks for reply. I understand about vmotion will use only one vmnic at a time even if we added active/active adapters.

actually I am looking for a document something like pdf guide, describing this about make use of one vmnic at a time and it will not use both NICs even if configured as active/active adapters.

let me know please if any doc on this.

HI ,

I also see that the share location in NFS is case sensitive and the path name should be same as the output of nfsshare.

if you give c:\users\administrator\dektop\share\ - it won't work ,

C:\Users\Administrator>nfsshare share

   Alias = Share

   Path = C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Share

Strange HTML/Blast behavior - any ideas?

0
0

I'm having a strange issue with a Horizon View 6 implementation. I have an automated desktop pool using linked clones and dedicated user assignment. The issue is none of my users can connect to these desktops via HTML/Blast UNLESS the desktop has already been accessed via the View Client and PCoIP. As soon as I've connected to one of the desktops in the pool via the View Client, log out, and then try to connect via HTML/Blast, everything works perfectly!

The events I see when a user who has never connected to the pool first via the View Client tries to connect via HTML/Blast are, in this order, the following:

11:32:29 PM (Agent) The agent running on machine DESKTOP has accepted an allocated session for user DOMAIN\user

11:32:29 PM (Connection Server) User DOMAIN\user requested Pool windows7_pool

11:32:29 PM (Connection Server) User DOMAIN\user requested Pool windows7_pool, allocated matchine DESKTOP

11:33:54 PM (Connection Server) User DOMAIN\user has logged out

No errors or anything - looks perfect other than the quick logout (that I didn't perform).

On the client side, the screen looks just like it would if the desktop were about to appear, but then after about 1.5 minutes, goes to a white screen displaying the following error:

An error has occurred: {"code":"ETIMEDOUT","errno":"ETIMEDOUT","syscall":"connect"}

This behavior happens whether inside the firewall or outside the firewall. And once that same user connects in via PCoIP using the View Client just once, the HTML/Blast connections start working thereafter and never fail again. I have "Ensure Machines Are Always Powered On" set on the pool, and connections via PCoIP happen quickly. I can't seem to find any value set for a low timeout threshold anywhere, but I'm new to configuring this.

Any ideas what might cause this type of behavior?

Re: Is it still possible to use a single host for vSphere 5.5, vCenter, VMs and datastores?

Hi André,

There aren't useful snapshots.  Basically, the menus are grayed out.

I will re-install the vCenter appliance and pay attention to the options.

60 days evaluation and vSphere cluster

I need to add 2 ESXi 5.5U2 hosts to an existing vSphere5.5 cluster.

The required licenses were ordered but I am not sure I will get them at the moment I will add the new ESXi hosts to the cluster.

Given that the new ESXi hosts are still in the 60 days evaluation period, can I add them to the cluster and get full funcionality while waiting for the licenses to arrive (in the 60 days timeframe)?

Is there any issue to consider?

Thank you for the quick answer.

Do you mean I can add the new nodes to the existing vSphere infrastructure and use vMotion to move existing VMs to them, power the VMs on and use them on without limitations while waiting for the licenses to be available?

Hi,

Which configuration of vCOPs are you using (single or multi slice) ?

Did you check hyperic adapter's connection to hyperic server with "Test" button ? If yes, can you see resources under hyperic instance in Administration > Environment Overview -> Adapter Instances > Hyperic Adapter Instance. Is "Collection Status" of that resources green ?

You are not referring to the correct variable, that should be

$row.ProvisionedSpaceGB = ($vm.Summary.Storage.Committed +$vm.Summary.Storage.Uncommitted) /1GB

$row.UsedSpaceGB =$vm.Summary.Storage.Committed /1GB

Yes correct. You can use all these features during evaluation. Please do read blog post I specified in my first response.

Could it be that vlan50 doesn't exist on switch vSwitch3 ?

Could you perhaps include the complete error message you are getting ?

There are curently running 3 VM. 2 Server 2012 R2 and one Windows 8.1 VM.

First i got PSOD 14 days ago, and it poped up during instalation. I updated firmwere diretly from server.

Now when server is rdy to start runing (domain is UP, computer in domain etc..) i got PSOD again yesterday. After reading some forums, may be problem with HP power saving futures. I set all on high preformance. At night got new PSOD,In attachment ares PSOD's from yesterda and this night.  All were about "No heartbeat".

I am also noticing when i log to the server in the morning, it need like 30 sec to get log in. After firt login is taking like 5 sec, much faster. This i am noticing from start till today. Maybe is conected with someting.

Any idea what can be wrong ?
