Can someone explain how this is done? I can't seem to figure out how to downgrade the hardware version to allow for compatibility with ESXi. Anything other than version 11 says the guest OS is unsupported. And version 11 is unsupported for ESXi.

I have ESXi 5.5 running on a HP ProLiant Gen8 Micro Server, ESXi 5.5 HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8, which doesn't have internal audio, so I purchased a Xonar U7 - ASUS DAC.

I want to be able to play from my music library, which is on a Windows 7 VM guest, through the DAC, and on to a receiver.

However, the audio coming out is extremely choppy/stuttering/laggy/distorted...practically unusable. Also, the entire VM starts lagging, together with the sound. When no sound is played, everything works fine.

I have eliminated drivers being the problem, as when connected to a physical computer, the setup works very well...so it has something to do with the host / virtual guest configuration.

What I have tried so far:

Changing the Advanced settings of the sound device to try different bitrates - nothing changes;

Assigning 1 or 2 cores to the VM - read somewhere this may be a problem - doesn't work in either setting;

I cannot configure passthrough, since it's not supported by the HP Microserver platform.

Any help or advice will be highly appreciated...I've been searching for a way out of this for a week now, and really don't want to give up on my virtual setup. Thank you!

I can't reproduce this at the moment, but you may want to take a look at Re: vmkfstools to convert 2gbsparse to see whether this helps you too.

On line 10 of this workflow / scripting block, there is a call to function which validates provided configuration parameters.

Could you check vCO server log files for the exact Java exception and its stack trace logged when the workflow fails?

I know it work because i tested it before the upgrade but now it just refuse to connect to the UI VM

This is stopping me from upgrading the OS on the vAPP

Anyone encounter similar issue? my linux skills is very basic so any advise or pointers is much appreciated.

p.s. i'm planning to migrate the data to 6.0, is the OS upgrade a pre-requisite?

Thanks for sharing. Just a minor remark: there is a bug in the code where you handle Fridays - instead of 'day = 5' the code should be 'day == 5'.

I had the same issue. I think this is a bug. The overwrite database checkbox in the installation wizard is just not working

I've upgraded two hosts that were running ESXI 5.5.0 build 2302651 to build 2403361 and since then, the CIM server (sfcbd) has stopped accepting HTTPS connections. Querying with wbemcli doesn't work anymore:

I see the following in /var/log/syslog.log, it's being logged every time a connection is attempted:

Hey Everyone,

I have a Mac Pro 6,1 that was recently updated to Yosemite 10.10.2 to have the latest firmware version MP61.0116.B11. I know that VMware marks MP61.88Z.0116.B05 as their latest. Upon downloading and creating a bootable ESXi Installer to prep the Mac Pro everything loads and then presents me with the ESXi 5.5.0 Installer but the system doesn't recognize any keyboard input so I cannot hit enter to continue the installation. I've tried a Dell USB keyboard as well as 2 Apple Keyboards but no dice for either. We are running another 2013 Mac Pro in the exact same configuration but that was shipped with 10.10.0 and likely has an older ROM version. Does anyone have any ideas?

it is intentional that you cannot delete them. It was explained to me as a way of "version control". It is annoying but I put a version number in the names of the policies then copy one policy to create a new one with the next highest version number.

Just set the "maximum number of open file descriptors" to 1000 and nofiles changed form 256 to 1000. When I try to clone again I get a different errror. Failed to clone disk : The destination file system does not support large files (12).

I will try to look up in KBs but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
