How do remote View thin clients use local network for Internet?

$

We have recently installed a new View system at our home site in our VMware 5.5 server farm. The thin clients (HP 610) we use to run View perform great as local user stations and surf the Internet quite well over our 100Mb T-1. Obviously, that type of performance was to be expected from a local client. As we've started deploying our thin clients to some of our remote sites, (their desktops are being served to each thin client over a secure BOVPN connection from the remote sites firewalls to our home site), the users have began to complain more and about their thin units performance, especially when surfing the Internet. Recently, I had an opportunity to visit a remote site so I took a look a their complaints, especially surfing the Internet. When they were accessing apps and services hosted at our home site, the performance seemed adequate to me. When surfing the Internet, I had to agree with them. It is slower. When I examined the home site firewall's traffic monitor, it appeared the remote thin clients were surfing the Internet through the home site firewall instead of going out their own firewall. Has anyone else seen this and/or is this normal behavior? I realize the View VMs are running at our home site it would make sense for them to access the Internet as I've described. My question is, can I configure our remote thin clients to use their sites' own firewall for Internet access instead of our home site firewall? They should only be talking our home site for View and internal apps. Thanks in advance for any help. Everyone have a great 4th of July.

convert HV VM as physical or from HV manager

Hi.

I have to convert one Hyper-V's VM to vSphere, it is a windows server 2008 r2 (both HV and VM) and HV have simple default installation.

First step: with source as  Hyper-V I had got a problem at 1% such "FAILED: An error occured while opening a virtual disk. Verify that the Converter server and the running source machines have a network access to the source and destination ESX/ESXi hosts.". I think it is not commonly problem at HV, because neighboured test VM converted ok, but it is very pure in environment - have no software as MSSQL and big vhd. And I think if I make google-search more then I can resolve problem (or write additionaly here:). Commonly, one thought was that raid-5 was degraded at that moment, and maybe in fast reading via HV it was timeouts, dont know. (I brought disk to raid 5 just yesterday and try again HV convert tonight.)

Second step: with source as physical (yep, why not) it converted ok, despite that I forgot or can't turn off programs/processes to give VM easy way for convert.

And now I have a question:

Is I should to try convert from HV directly or it enough to do as physical?

Is a principal difference in resulted VM (more clear virtualization layer or windows in VM) when I do one or enother thing?

Finaly I didnt understand a principal need of HV conversion as it. Except several situations: when we can't run source VM for physical conversion (f.e. havnt free CPU/RAM/etc or it is like archive and not for run to prevent state change); when we need fast conversion (without virtual layer from source VM to HV); and when we want to exclude VM's process works effect.

OK! Outdated IET being part of a free Openfiler has issues with VMware ESXi LUN locking. Up-to-date IET not used by Openfiler is immune. Openfiler uses SCST with a working SCSI-3 reservation thing as a selling point to push their commercial version. Does it sound better now?

Also just now I thought that it is 3rd way by convert from files, if I bring them directly to converter's side. but I dont see this way.

This PC can't run Windows 10

Here is why WIndows 10 can't be installed onthis PC

VMware SVGA 3D

Your display won't work.

I get that on VMWare Player 6.07 running Windows 8.1 pro and therefore can't reserve Windows 10.

How can I get around that?

Thanks. I will check it out. but tenant credentials are active directory user and the account is configured with never expired password. In this also, we need to disable tenant admin password?

Ok, you've pointed me at something labelled as a "free trial version".

On reading the EULA, it seems to state that evaluation versions may not be used on production systems.

- so .. is the documentation wrong .. or is there a hidden "pay here" link kicking around somewhere?

(or am I just totally mis-reading it?)

vSphere client incorrectly reports incorrect username / password

Hi, whenever I have slow Internet connections (ie 0.2 Mbps download / upload speed) I'll not be able to connect to ESXi 6 via either vSphere client or Workstation 10.  But the same isn't true when Internet connection is fast again (ie 3.5 Mbps download / 0.45 Mbps upload speed).  Has anyone experienced this before?
