Re: vRA 7 linux guest agent and custom props

I have seen log entries surrounding script kickoffs and exceptions in the catalina.out file on the appliance, so I would check there first. This link lists out all of the log locations for vRA7 if you haven't seen that yet.

Hi Sxnxr;

Could you please tell me, does the agent takes another vrops licence or it uses the same licence of the VM ?

Thank you.

Allocation Based policy does not show actual powered on vcpu usage

It seems even though a policy is configured with Allocation only the capacity remaining analysis page still uses analytics to calculate the used amount. I thought allocation was based purely on the number of vcpu's that are powered on - for example when the CPU Allocation option is set in the policy. However it seems "average demand" is what it considers as used and not the actual powered on and running vcpu's in virtual machines. The result of this is that I am seeing capacity remaining for a cluster, configured with a 1:1 cpu overcommit policy, still showing a number of remaining vcpu's even though I have provisioned more vCPU's than the number of cores in all the hosts. This seems like it isn't purely allocation and some what a hybrid configuration between allocation and demand. The total and usable amount of capacity is calculated correctly using the overcommit ratio, but the amount used is based on demand and hence called Average Demand. Can someone shed some light on this? Is there anyway to strictly use the number of powered on vCPU's as the used amount?

Re: vSphere Replication and Site Recovery Manager

Well, you would need to do a Reprotect operation. If you want to make your DR site your Production site, you will need to issue two commands:

1. Recovery (Planned Migration or Disaster Recovery) - this will register/power-on the VMs in the DR site

2. Reprotect - this will reverse your replications so now your DR site VMs are replicating back to the original Production site.

dvdstore tile results missing

Morning

I've run VMMark2 and the test.out file has "0" for all the dvdstoreA/B/C tiles, I've also noticed throughout the testing that the ds2webdriver process is unexpectanty terminating. I've already followed the steps to create the dvd database's.

Results attached, any idea's?

Thanks

Ollie

Site Recovery Manager inquiries

1. If I am using an 1 SRM license for both PROD and DR site, can I do failback and reprotect?

2. Client will do a network split to simulate a DR scenario (PROD will still be running), In this scenario can I do reprotect and failback testing? They dont want to just use the test recovery plan feature of SRM.

3. SRM can be used in network split (testing) or in the event vCenter Server is corrupted or vCenter manage services encountered a problem?

Service blueprint form and Dynamic input displaying on VRA forms and validation

$

We are planning to create service blueprint for SCCM Agent installation  on Existing windows/Linux servers.    For ex: Install SCCM Agent

Service blueprint form will display following fields on VRA form

Field 1:   VM Name:   User will input existing server VM name.

Field 2:   Master_SCCM – Server Name ( Should be auto fill during run of workflow based on filed 1 input)

Requirement is  Master_SCCM filed should be auto fill once user select or passed VM Name based upon the   region /country vCenter cluster in which it is deployed.

So before click last button of SUBMIT user must aware that Righat master server is selected before installation workflow start

So it is possible to display that value in the same blue print form during the Run of workflow based on users input provided in VC_VM text box ?

no applications available when user logs in

I updates workspace from 2.6 to 2.7. After update when a users logs on, the user can't see any of his applications. The application can be found in App Center and they are marked as added. Even when I add a new application, the application is not shown. The application shows up in App Center and the user can add the application, but the user can't start the application because the application doesn't show up in the portal page.

Can somebody help me fix this?

How to start policy via script? (How to query policies via script?)

Hi guys

I would like to be able to start a vRO Policy by a script. I have already found com.vmware.library.policy.startPolicy()in the API browser and would like to pass one of my vRealize Orchestrator Policies to this method. Unfortunately I do not find a way to query the current policies so far. My ugly workaround therefore currently consists of starting a helper-workflow with a manually pre-assigned policy.

How can I do this in pure Javascript?

Best regards

If you provisioned LUN from your Equalogic in the past, then it should be fine by directly re-scanning for new datastore.

Please make sure to check both option before re-scanning.

Quite strange, looks more likely to be something on the guest OS! By any chance did you try using a different image.

Thanks very much for that tip about VMware and Time Machine. As a rule I do close down VMware (when doing a full manual back up) but I'll take extra precautions now too

Thanks again
