vSAN 6.6 ネットワーク設定について
製品、バージョン、環境（物理、仮想） ： Vmware 6.5、vSAN6.6
現象について ：
上記のネットワーク構成にて、vSANネットワークを構築しております。
マネジメントネットワークでの通信は、ESXi 3台で問題なく通信可能となっておりますが、
vSANネットワークでの通信に関しては以下のような状況です。
※各SEXiはHUBを経由し接続しております。
ESXi1、ESXi3間、ESXi2、ESXi3間でvmkpingを実施すると、「sendto() failed (Host is down) 」
となってしまいvSANの健全性チェックにてNGとなっております。
このような状況となった際に、確認すべき設定等があれば、教えていただけないでしょうか。

Hi,
I will do app stack as below
1) core bits of office [for people who only needs office]
2) Office + Project + Visio
other option is if you are moving office to gold image.
You have to create project + Visio on top of provision VM which contains office.
Make sure if you are using standard office you have to use standard Visio and Project, please make sure you are using same level of versions [in your case it should be "pro plus"]

Before rebooting, you could do a manual rescan and check the output
To rescan all HBAs:
esxcli storage core adapter rescan --all
To rescan a specific HBA:
esxcli storage core adapter rescan --adapter (vmkernel SCSI adapter name)

Downgrade 6.5 -> 6.0
I downgraded my esxi host from 6.5 to 6.0, and now i can't see the files from the datastore. I was able to mount the datastore, but i think it created a new VMFS instead of mapping the one that was already there. How can i map the old VMFS so that i can create a new VM using the VM disk that was running on ESXi 6.5?

Universal Security Objects - VLAN
Would like to check with you if the below is technically feasible.
Universal security objects in NSX, is use to sync the security objects between 2 sites.
Would like to check if this is supported only for the VXLAN or is it supported for VLAN also.
Can we create universal security groups for the VMs in VLAN using VMNAME & get it sync to the DR site.
My understanding it is only for VXLAN.

Re: Upgrade vcenter 5.5 to 6.0 on server 2008
If the Vcenter is physical
1). Single point of failure wherein Virtual Vcenter moves among the host as normal VM in cluster.
2). Recovery from scratch is more time consuming.
3). May be system restore could be there but not as proficient as snapshot of virtual machine.
4). Performance vise if load increased on your Vcenter then adding more memory is not such easy as in Virtual Machine.
and a lot more if you think more deeper. As far as I am aware, Virtual is much better than Physical.

As of NSX 6.3 you can use VM names and/or Universal security tags as part of Universal Security Group criteria, however, there's still the active/standby caveat where an NSX manager under vCenter A can't see VMnames and other dynamic criteria for VMs in vCenter B so it's only suitable for environments where all components identified with dynamic criteria can only be in a single vCenter at a time. Definitely encourage reading the NSX-V 6.3: Cross-VC NSX Security Enhancements - Network Virtualization blog which does a much better job of explaining.

Prior to these versions you could create a virtual server for NSX Edge load balancing without selecting a default server pool (for scenarios where you're either just doing a redirect or using app rules to send traffic to different pools) so this is just stating that you have to select a default pool even in those scenarios so can just create a dummy pool if you're never actually going to send traffic to it.

One of my favorite tweaks is DelayedDesktopSwitchTimeout
This is a nice setting to play around with, to show the User Desktop is little sooner than normal.
Some people set it to 0. I liked setting it to 2. See what works best for you...

You can use VMnames and universal security tags in NSX 6.3, however there's a caveat in that it only translates the inventory of it's local vCenter so it's only suitable for active/standby deployments where all components of an application will reside under the same vCenter at any given time. Re: Vmware Esxi Update No Space Left On Device Error
I hit this issue when attempting to update to 6.5.0 U1 and swap was enabled, but not set to use my datastore. This was an easy fix. Thank you! I previously have had to update the ESXi environments using a thumb drive which extended downtime. With 6.5.0 U1 only being an update at this point, I was unable to move to this version using my previous method and was stuck not being able to use the CLI update method either.

Hi guys . Is there a way to determine is my ESXi 5.0 free edition or not-free edition ? I have 3 standalone cisco UCS-C220 servers with esxi5.0 , they with from Cisco 3 years ago, and I need to upgrade them to version 6.

ESXI - AMD Threadripper Testing - Having Issues.
Hi All,
I have been playing with a new Threadripper 1950X build and was thinking about seeing if I could get ESXi working. So far I haven't been having much luck and my build keeps getting stuck at the following place:

I have tried all kinds from disabling all sata ports, disabling SMT, disabling USB3 and generally messing about with stuff in the bios but as yet I simply can't get it past this loading screen. I realise that this chip is not on the supported chips list yet and that its a long shot but figured if anybody would know it would be the good people in here.
Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated. I'm also fairly noob so go easy on me lads.

2ノード + 監視ホスト で構成された vSAN クラスタを構成していると思いますが、
監視ホストが物理サーバなのであれば、まずは一般的なESXiのネットワークまわりの確認をしてみるとよいと思います。
- 物理ネットワークの構成が正しい状態か。
- ESXi同士を接続しているネットワーク機器のポート設定やVLAN設定が正しいか？
マネジメントネットワークであれば1G-NIC同士の通信だが、vSAN Networkは10G-NICと1G-NICとの通信のはずなのでただのHUBだけではなそうに思えるので・・・ - たとえば監視ホストのNIC1のポートに、別のマシンを接続してESXi1 と ESXi2 の vSAN ネットワークと通信できるか。
- ESXi同士を接続しているネットワーク機器のポート設定やVLAN設定が正しいか？
- 物理的NICと、ESXiの認識しているvmnicXの割り当てが意図しているとおりになっているか。
- MACアドレスやNICのモデルなどから判別してみる。
- 想定しているvmnicがESXiから見て ConnectedやUPになっているか。
直接ESXiにログインして確認するのであれば、「esxcli network nic list」コマンドや、DCUI の「Network Adapters」画面などで確認してみる。
- vmnicとvSwitchの割り当てが正しいか。
- VMkernelポートを作成しているvSwitchが正しいか。
あとヒントにつながりそうなものとして、下記についても気になりました。
- 監視ホストは物理サーバですよね？（OVA版の Witness アプライアンスではなく）
- vSwitchまででなく、VMkernelポート（vmkX）も記載があるとわかりやすいかもしれない。

I've attached the logs for both the Ubuntu and MacOS attempts, renamed appropriately.
Since the VMs didn't open, I didn't update the tools. I'm wondering if I need to uncheck the options, update the tools, then re-check the options. I'll try that for grins.
Update: nope, same message after tools update.
