This is a well known problem with ESXi-4, but I am not finding any information with v5. I have a new ESXi-5 server with an Adaptec AHA-29320LPE SCSI card and an HP Storageworks 1/8 tape loader with LTO-4 SCSI tape drive. the vmware console shows the storage adapter and the tape drive, with status Dead.
- BIOS setup of the card identifies as a 29320LPE, but ESXi identifies as an AHA-29320ALP
- The HCL display of Adaptec SCSI controllers does not list the 29320 for ESXi-5 - has VMware dropped support for this card?
- But the Adaptec SCSI cards that are listed are not ones that I recongize, and in fact the only controller that I see listed by Adaptec for parallel SCSI drives is the 29320.
- The behavior I am seeing used to be addressed, with earlier versions of ESXi, by the "esxcli nmp satp..." command. It looks as though this has been dropped from ESXi-5
Is there a way to work with the 29320 card? Is there another SCSI card that is recommended?
thank you, Cam
