At my customer's I'm working with Workstation 7.1.4, hosted by Windows XP running in a domain.
The guest operating system is Windows XP, too. It is not joined with any domain.
I have set up a shared folder to a hidden share at one of my customer's servers:
Name | Value |
---|---|
Name | FILE |
Host path | \\SV123456\File$ |
Enabled | true |
Read-only | false |
(I have altered server and share name in the above table because of copyright reasons.)
At the server my domain account has full privileges, plus a group my domain account belongs to has full privileges, too.
Here's the strange part:
Within the VM I can access the shared folder flawlessly, hence, I can create and delete files and folders.
Here's the path I'm using: \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\FILE
BUT: I cannot rename files! Whenever I try to do this I get following error message box from Windows Explorer:
"%1 cannot be renamed: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
What's going wrong here?
Here're two screenshots from the VM machine, demonstrating the problem:
