Hi I've managed this to work, but I had to patch more then the vmnet.tar in source directory.
I had to patch all the tar files, so I have put them here in an attachment.
So what I did was,
1. Backup /usr/lib/vwmare/modules/source/*.tar
2. Replace the tar files in /usr/lib/vmware/modules/source with decompressing the attached file in that directory.
3. Then starting vmware from console or from menu, and vmware compiled the files as expected.
4. Log out / Log in, and start vmware
