Do the following:

 

Customization of guest operating systems that run Windows Vista or later might fail with certain system time zones
Conversion or reconfiguration tasks might fail during guest operating system customization if you set non-standard time zone for destination guest operating systems that run Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, or Windows 7. The following error message appears in the vCenter Converter agent log file: TaskImpl has failed with std::Exception: Timezone.
Workaround: On the Customizations page of the relevant vCenter Converter wizard, select Time zone, and select (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time: Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London from the Time zone drop-down menu. You can change the time zone of the destination machine manually after the conversion task completes.

 

 

This is for converter 4.2 and I see you are using 5, but it is worth a try.

I have the same problem and it is sporadic. Sometimes the LUN will completely clean itself from the host the VM is running on, but the rest of the hosts in the cluster do not recognize the change. Then other times the LUN won't completely remove itself from the host it is running on. Doing a full rescan of the cluster usually sorts this problem out, however I have had to reboot the ESX host to clear this up entirely at one point.

 

I had a case open with Netapp a while back and they told me it was a VMware issue.

 

The problem I think is ESX host isn't initiating a cluster rescan after a LUN is removed from the host. Snapdrive removes the LUN from VM, host rescans datastore. At this point the host should tell the cluster to rescan as well, but it isn't.

 

I'm going to open a case with VMware, see where that gets me. I'll post back.

ESX 4.1 on HP ProLiant GL350 g6

I am having trouble getting esx to use the excess space on my raid array.  Last weekend I added some additional drives and expanded the array to a total size of 1.91 TB of DAS in the server.   I did this a while back and remembered it was pretty ease.  This time not so much.  Once I got finished and rebooted esx will see the 1.91tb but when you go to add the space the screen is blank.  I have included a few screen shots for reference.

 

Any thoughts or ideas??

ESXi 5 + Iomega IX4-200D Cloud Edition + NFS Shares

Hi,

 

This issue relates to a home lab enviroment.

 

I have presented my NAS box externally to the internet.

 

My issue is that that my NFS shares for ESXi have the 'everyone' full access so they are visible to all users connecting externally to my nas box.

 

If I take the 'everyone' off  my esxi server loses access to the shares, I have tried all three options available on the NAS box in regards to the NFS protocol settings as attached in the screenshot.

 

I assume this has something to do with the no_root_squash config, I thought about creating a user account called 'root' on the NAS box with the same password as the root account on the ESXi server but of course the NAS is Linux and already has a root account by default.....

 

How can I isolate these ESXi NFS shares so that they are only visible to my ESXi servers?

Okay how about try, Cmd-Tab to VMware Fusion and then press the Cmd-Up or Down Arrow to invoke Exposé and then Arrow to the target Full Screen Virtual Machine window.

 

I do not know if this will work with Mac OS X Lion however it works with Mac OS X Snow Leopard.  (Not sitting at a Mac OS X Lion system at the moment to test.)

The get-vm part is doing the work of pulling all of the vm's.  You can modify that to filter which vm's you want it to pull from your vcenter server.

 

If you have multiple datacenters, for example, get-datacenter xyz | get-vm, will limit the get-vm to only that one particular datacenter, and similarly with get-cluster, etc.

The machinePerformAction api has additional options:

in realtà "non è successo niente", è che i boss hanno richiesto una consulenza per analizzare lo stato e il primo appunto alla parte networking è "non avete disabilitato l'STP!!!".

 

Il secondo è che fra i dell e i cisco non c'e' un buon "dialogo", ma era un problema noto e dovuto alla introduzione "garibaldina" senza una adeguata preprogettazione e soprattutto senza collaborazione adeguata fra chi introduceva il nuovo e chi gestiva il vecchio.

 

Una cosa che ho imparato è che con la virtualizzazione non si può più ragionare a compartimenti separati. Non che prima fosse sano, ma ora è due volte più importante evitarlo

Suppressing Windows desktop icons on Mac

When working in Windows, each time I drop a document on my W7 desktop (eg. a MS Excel doc), it automatically appears on my Mac desktop when I switch over.  Is there a way to suppress that?  Ideally, I would like to see these files on my W7 desktop ONLY, and not on the Mac-side.

 

Does anyone know if this is possible?  Thanks!

BTW Make sure you have a backup of the target Virtual Machine before modifying its virtual hard disk in case something goes wrong.  Also, although that is an old post (~2.5 years) nonetheless the basic information should still be relevant.  If you have any questions before you proceed just ask.

I've ESXi 4.1

 

I don't find which OID to use to monitor Datastore.

Also, I dont want to use other monitoring solution, I realy need to stay with PRTG.
