Hello, i found an Errormessage in the Eventmanager on an fresh Windows 8.1 installation:

Deinstall, reboot, new install gives the same message again.

Re: NFS datastores inactive after reboot
Thanks for the tip on "esxcfg-nas -r". When I did that, I saw it was trying to mount a datastore related to Veeam by the hostname and since the VM running DNS hadn't been started yet it failed. Apparently it doesn't try to mount the rest of the NFS shares if it fails on one. Once I got DNS up and working, I re-ran the command and all the shares mounted without a problem. My hosts are 5.0 and 5.1 with a 5.5 vCenter by the way.

In order to be able to resolve the host's FQDN you need to manually add a "Host-A" entry in the DNS server, this will not be added automatically.
Out of curiosity, what was the issue with the host installation?

1. What is the ESXi version that you are using?
2. Are you facing this issue only with linux OS? Which is the linux version that you are trying to install? Please check the OS compatibility using this guide : VMware Compatibility Guide: Guest/Host Search . Also, please check whether the OS selected while creating the VM matches with the OS that you are trying to install.
3. Is the vSphere console showing an MKS error?.
4. As Dee006 mentioned, if you have access to ESXi shell, please add the logs here.

Re: vSphere 5.5.0 and USB
Hi.
My environtment:
HP Proliant ML310e v2.
ESXi 5.5.0 U1 HP ISO
Windows Server 2012 x64 (not R2)
Created VM v8 configured with firmware BIOS, same problem.
Created VM v8 configured with firmware EFI.
Added pciHole.Start with value 2048 as a new row in Options - Advanced - General - Configuration Parameters (or editing vmx file).
Configured all guest memory as reserved, in my case 4 GB.
Added PCI device 00:1a.0 previously configured for passthrough.
Installed Windows Server 2012 x64 (not R2) and VMware Tools.
SOLVED!
Windows have the USB controller installed and can see the USB device plugged in, in my case a USB dongle.

I've now made the engineers aware of this issue.. But please, why did you not file a support ticket? Filing a support ticket is the only guaranteed way to make VMware aware of potential issues.. This community is not the official support offered by VMware.

My Guess is changes to cloud track will be released in conjunction with the release of vsphere 6. Probably vCAC exam would incorporate some features of vsphere 6. Recently released NSX 6.1 also incorporated lot of features for vCAC Network Provisioning.

Re: 50 vm limitation?
A vmware.log file is created in each of the VM's folders.
Are you running linked clones, i.e. using the same parent disk for all of these VM's? To find out whether the issue occurs do to this simultaneous file access, try powering on another standalone VM, which has its separate files. If this works, the next step would be to find out whether it is a limitation with VMware Workstation or the host OS.

It was a very minor spell-mistake I did somewhere, I don't remember exactly where. I corrected it and it ran perfectly. It runs perfectly as it is mentioned in the develop plugins guide.

Я так понимаю будете переустанавливать гипервизор и потом подключать то же самое хранилище? В случае если хранилище не локальное и удалять том VMFS вы не собираетесь - нет необходимости копировать машину, просто подключите заново хранилище и добавьте машину (add to inventory), при включении будет задан вопрос, на который ответите "i moved it". Но и ваш вариант сработает.

Unable to start VM in New Window
Hi Guys,
I often use my laptop with two screens: the built in and an external screen.
With VMware Player I can start each VM in their own 'window' and position the VM on any screen I would like. When using two VM's that works fine so I can have one VM per screen.
With VMware Workstation I need to start a seperate window ('New Window') to be able to start VM's on different screens.
The thing is, that when I want to do that I need to make sure the primary Workstation screen does not have the VM I want to start in the second window in its inventory. If it is in the primary windows inventory, I receive an error message in the second window stating that the VM is locked and in use, but I haven't started the VM in the primary window.
Maybe this is functionality by design, but I would like to be able to have one inventory and just start my second window and launch any VM from my inventory I want without having to remove it from my primary windows inventory and then manually add it to the second windows inventory. Is there something wrong?

Guest accessing sharded disk from host when same as VM location
Hello Forum,
Using VMWare Workstation 10 with host Win7SP1 and guest WinXP here.
Guest network is 'bridged' and guest OS sees the local windows 'workgroup'.
All machines on the workgroup and their shared disks are visible EXCEPT the host and its shares.
The trick here is that the disk in the host that is not visible in the workgroup is the one where the guest VM is located on.
Is this a fundamental limit of VM Workstation that the same disk that the guest is on is not visible in the workgroup list?

Да хотелось бы переустановить гипервизор на флэшку, сейчас на самом хранилище, просто думал, что будет лучше хранилище отформатить без esxi, поэтому хочу перенести машины в другое место, отформатить все, обновить прошивки на контроллере, накатить на флэшку уже новый esxi 5.5 u2 и подключить новое хранилище залить туда ВМ и запустить.
каким способом будет быстрее всего скопировать папки? Clientом или Фастсцп?
я так понимаю ВМ должны быть остановлены?

2 белых адреса, под что они?
1-й наверняка под внешний алрез машины-шлюза.
2-й для управления самим хостом? То есть его менеджмент вмкернел?
Или какая у вас задумка?
Напишите более детально чего вы хотите. Лучше с картинкой. Вам тут все быстро подскажут т.к. схема стандартная.
